The Campbell Jazz Bands and Concert Choirs will perform at this very important event for Campbell as we take time to welcome future Campbell students and their families to our school!

 

CAMPBELL CONCERT BAND CONCERT @ LIVING HOPE ALLIANCE CHURCH!

March 21 - 7PM

This concert features all of the Campbell Concert Bands in a great showcase of concert band music in preparation for the spring festival and tour season.

The Campbell Concert Groups listed above have been invited to perform at the internationally renowned Chan Centre at the University of British Columbia as well as at public venues in Vancouver and Whistler. The first set of permission forms will be distributed to the students in September.  This is an outstanding opportunity for all Campbell Senior Ensembles.  Both individual and group fundraisers will be held to help offset the costs of the tour.

 

REGINA MUSIC FESTIVAL

The Chamber Choir is honored to represent Campbell at this annual festival featuring ensembles from across our city.

 

INTERMEDIATE MUSIC TOUR

Where: EDMONTON, ALBERTA

When:   Thursday, April 27 - Saturday, April 29, 2017

Who: Grade 10 Band, Intermediate Voices, and Jazz Band 2

The Intermediate Musicians will be traveling to Edmonton, Alberta to perform at community venues, and to participate in high quality workshops with nationally recognized clinicians at the Victoria School of the Arts.  All members of the groups listed above are expected to be part of “the team” on this excursion.

What a joy it was to share the our Campbell Choral Festival Concert and special guests – Kokopelli with our Campbell community on February 3!

 We have some very special events coming up this week – and we encourage ALL Campbell music families to take advantage of these great opportunities to see our wonderful Campbell music students in action!

 Along with our Instrumental Jazz Clinics with Gord Foote happening this week - please note the following major performance events. 

 

SASKATCHEWAN CHORAL FEDERATION – CHORFEST!

This event features choirs from across the province having the opportunity to work with nationally recognized clinicians after their performance.

 

CAMPBELL TRIBUTE TO PHIL! – POSTER ATTACHED FOR ALL FAMILIES – PLEASE SHARE!!! –

Special Guests – The University of Regina Choirs

This concert will feature selected Campbell Vocal Ensembles in concert with the University of Regina Choirs.  Phil Mattson is an extraordinary composer who has recently suffered a debilitating accident. This concert is being held to support his rehabilitation and care.

 

FEBRUARY BLUES JAZZ @ CAMPBELL – FLYER ATTACHED FOR ALL FAMILIES – PLEASE SHARE!

This annual event features all of the Campbell Vocal and Instrumental Jazz Ensembles performing.  A great evening for everyon

CAMPBELL CHORAL FESTIVAL CONCERT

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3 – 7:30PM

CAMPBELL AUDITORIUM

Featuring the internationally acclaimed choral ensemble – KOKOPELLI!

 

We are pleased to invite you to the Campbell Choral Festival Concert featuring internationally acclaimed choral conductors - Dinah Helgeson, Scott Leithead and members of the internationally acclaimed choral group – Kokopelli to Campbell this coming Friday, February 3rd @ 7:30PM in the Campbell Auditorium.

 

This year, the Campbell choral students have the privilege of working with two internationally renowned Choral Conductors in master classes, workshops and performances at the festival.  We are also very excited to announce that our students will be having workshops and performing with the internationally acclaimed choral ensemble – Kokopelli on Friday evening February 3!  This is an amazing opportunity for our students!

 

The women will be working with Dinah Helgeson - former Fine Arts Department Head at the International School in Bangkok, Thailand.  Dinah currently resides in Seattle, WA. The men will be working with Scott Leithead founder of the internationally recognized Kokopelli Choir Association from Edmonton, AB.  Scott specializes in World Music and has spent a great amount of time working with ensembles across South Africa.  Both of our guests are sought after around the world as adjudicators, clinicians and as guest conductors.  Please see our clinicians biographies attached!  We are very fortunate to have them at Campbell!

 

Founded in 1996 by Scott Leithead, KOKOPELLI aims to share music across the boundaries of culture and place, using song as a tool of communication and community. Kokopelli has been a featured ensemble at many events, provincially, nationally, and internationally. These include Podium (the biannual conference of the Association of Canadian Choral Communities), the national conference of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA),  and the the International Society of Music Educators conference.   In addition to many North American cities, the choir has performed as guest artists at festivals in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Malaysia, Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland and Zambia. Three exchange students from South Africa will be be joining the choir on their visit to Campbell.

  

We welcome ALL parents, family and friends to join us at for our Choral Festival Concert this Friday evening February 3 at 7:30PM featuring our world-class guests!

Important Campbell Choral Festival Reminders for ALL Choral Parents and Students!

Greetings Everyone!

 We are all very excited about our Choral Festival this week!  The Campbell choral students have the privilege of working with two internationally renowned Choral Conductors in master classes, workshops and performances at the festival.  We are also very excited to announce that our students will  be having workshops and performing with the internationally acclaimed choral ensemble - KOKOPELLIi!  This is an amazing opportunity for our students!

 As outlined in previous memo’s- please find attached and below  the schedule for the Campbell Choral Festival being held in the Campbell Auditorium this week.

 Please note that Friday evening’s concert will begin at 7:30PM!

We welcome ALL parents, family and friends to join us at the brief concert on Friday evening at 7:30PM featuring our world-class guests!

Dinah Lindberg Helgeson recently retired from International School Bangkok, Thailand, after nine years as Head of Fine Arts and the High school Choir director.

Mrs. Helgeson attended college at Pacific Lutheran University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. While at PLU, Dinah was member and soprano soloist with “The Choir of the West” under the direction of Dr. Maurice Skones.  Dinah pursued graduate studies at University of Southern California where she studied with Dr. Rod Eichenberger.

Mrs. Helgeson taught vocal music in the state of Washington and Montana and was a familiar vocal/choral clinician and guest conductor. Dinah is in demand as a guest conductor and choral clinician across the United States, Canada, and Southeast Asia. She has conducted numerous All-State Choir festivals throughout the United States. Dinah lives in Washington State.

 Scott Leithead is the founder and Artistic Director of Edmonton's Kokopelli Choir Association and TIME Jazz Association. He has been invited to conduct provincial and state honor choirs on seventeen occasions and he has presented workshops in North America and beyond. Notable appearances include: conducting the Alberta Youth Choir for the Alberta Choral Federation’s 40th Anniversary; conducting the 2013 Ellison Canadian National Honor Choir; adjudicating at both the ACCC National Competition for Amateur Canadian Choirs and the Kathaumixw International Choir Festival.

Scott has a passion for music from southern Africa and he has been invited to work with choirs in South Africa and Namibia on numerous occasions. In 2008, Scott was on sabbatical in Namibia where he worked with the Mascato Youth Choir and many other choirs in southern Africa. Scott’s passion for innovative and unique choral music experiences has shaped the direction of the Kokopelli Choir Association. Scott is the Vice Chairman of Choral/Vocal Division for Music Fest Canada and he is a longtime member of the advisory committee for the Canadian Rocky Mountain Music Festival. He also sits on the board for the Brail Tone Music Society (for persons with disabilities) and three additional national boards in Canada, as well as the National Youth Music and Art Development Foundation of South Africa.  Recently he has presented clinics and workshops across Canada and conducted numerous honor choirs including the New Brunswick Youth Choir, the Ellison Canadian Honor Choir, and the Oklahoma All-State Choir.

Greetings Chamber Choir Members and Families!

 

Happy New Year!  The Chamber Choir has had a wonderful year so far – and we have many outstanding festivals, concerts and tours to look forward to in the weeks ahead!

 6:00                        Grade nine arrive at the school

6:15                        Grade nine warm up in the auditorium-go to McTavish’s after warm up

6:30                        Grade ten-twelve warm up in the band room-go to McTavish’s after warm up

6:45                        Wind ensemble warm up in the band room

Music Concerts at First Nation's University- Sunday, December 11 - 3PM & 7PM

Greetings all Campbell Music Families!

 

 We are looking forward to our Music Concerts at First Nation's University this coming Sunday, December 11.  The concerts feature ALL of the Campbell Choirs, the String Orchestra, and the debut of the Campbell Symphony Orchestra. We are very excited about this great opportunity to perform again in the wonderful Veteran's Memorial Tipi Foyer of First Nations University.  This beautiful concert has become a Campbell Holiday tradition.  Be sure to bring your family and friends!

 

 Please find attached and below the Stage Plan and Dress Rehearsal Information for the upcoming Concerts at First Nation's University that  were distributed in classes during the past two weeks!

 

 Kindly read all the information carefully and ensure that your child is on time for their dress rehearsal prior to the concert.

This fundraiser is applied at 100% credit to your TRP account. The percentage of the credit depends on the total amount of gift cards that CAMPA families sell.

 Here's how it works:

  1. Collect orders from family, friends and people at work

  2. Accumulate your orders and cheques made out to CAMPA (NO CASH PLEASE) and get them to CAMPBELL. (Mr. Baird, Mrs. Baird, Mr. Peters or the CAMPA mail slot in the music hallway) no later than noon Friday, December 9, 2016.

  3. Orders will be ready for pickup at CAMPBELL. You will be notified with the specific details.

Musical Theatre Memo for All Musical Theatre Parents and Students

This is it!!!  The students have been working hard, and we look forward to a wonderful show with this amazing group of young people!  Thanks to all of our families for your ongoing care and support!

UPCOMING DRESS REHEARSALS

Thanks to all parents who have made arrangements in their schedule to have students at each rehearsal!

It is very important that ALL students have made arrangements to be in attendance at the remaining dress rehearsals before the show. We are now adding the Orchestra, Light and Sound Cues - and it is imperative that everyone is used to these added elements of the production.  It is very hard on the rest of the cast when people are missing.  Thank you so much for your help and support!  If your child is ill, please notify us immediately via email.

 

SNACKS AND SUPPERS FOR UPCOMING FINAL WEEKEND & DRESS  REHEARSALS!!

IMPORTANT!  Parents please ensure that all students have healthy snacks/suppers with them at the school for the upcoming final dress rehearsals.  Parents are most welcome to bring suppers to the students.  Students will not be able to leave the school during these full dress rehearsals.  Thank you for your help!!

 

CTV MORNING LIVE  HITS @ CAMPBELL

CTV Morning Live will be with us on Monday.  Shanna-Marie is currently deciding who will be involved in the Morning Live segments.  This will be announced ASAP.   This is an important part of ensuring that the Musical is well publicized so members of our community can enjoy the hard work of these students.

IF YOU ARE INVOLVED – the schedule for Monday morning will be as follows:

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 27

7AM – Arrival Get in Costume & Warm Up

7:40AM – Live Segment - TBA

8:25AM – Live Segment - TBA

 

PARENT VOLUNTEERS! - HELP NEEDED!!!

Closing Night Clean-up Volunteers – Bring Your Power Tools….

We will need help from parent volunteers to help with clean-up in both the auditorium and backstage on Saturday after the show prior to the catered Cast Party.  All Cast and Crew will also be involved in this clean-up prior to our Catered Cast Party.

If you are able to bring power tools to help take down the thrust stage and dismantle the set - it is truly appreciated!

Donations and Corporate Sponsorship are still being accepted with sincere gratitude.  There are a number of large expenses that will need to be covered, and your support is truly appreciated!!!

 

COSTUME/HAIR MAKE-UP

Costumes

PARENTS - FOR SECURITY REASONS - PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD HAS A LABELED GARMENT BAG,  A LABELED LARGE ZIPLOCK BAG &  A LABELED REUSEABLE BAG (not plastic)  TO PUT ALL OF THEIR BELONGINGS & COSTUME ACCESSORIES IN.

With over 100 students involved in the production, it is very hard on everyone when personal belongings and costume accessories are scattered and are not hung properly.  Thank you for your help!

Please refer to previous memos and the attachments on the Campbell Music Website for the detailed information about the Hair/Make-Up Requirements for the production that was previously distributed to students and emailed to families.

IMPORTANT COSTUME INFORMATION FOR PARENTS!

A number of students were given specific instructions about footwear and accessories.  Can you please ensure that these items are at the school for the Saturday runs of the show.  Thank you for your cooperation!!!

Make-Up

Please ensure that make-up kits as specified in the attached memo are at the school for the Rehearsal on Saturday, November 25.

Hair

Ladies – please follow instructions provided by Bernie Tice - and come with your hair done on Sunday according to Bernie’s guidelines.

 

PERSONAL PROPS

Please make note of your personal props for each scene and ensure they are on the prop table provided by the stage managers.  Notify the stage managers immediately if there is a prop missing.

 

CONCESSION FOR CONCERT NIGHTS - All Musical Theatre Families to donate baked goods

A Reminder that in order to off-set costs for the musical, each family is being asked to donate 2 dozen home made desserts. Please see the attached letter that explaining the concession process.

 

PURCHASE OF TICKETS - All Order Forms Are Due on Friday!

Mrs. Hock is collected all Ticket Order Forms and money up to this point.  These pre-ordered tickets will be distributed at the office or in class prior to Opening Night.

If you have not submitted the order form or you are planning to purchase more tickets - you can still do so through the main office at Campbell - (306) 523-3250.

CLEAN-UP AND CAST PARTY - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3

As there is an outside group using our Auditorium and dressing rooms the day after our final show - ALL Cast and Crew members will be involved in the clean-up after the last show.  ALL personal belongings and costume pieces provided by students MUST BE TAKEN HOME that evening!  We will then have our CAST PARTY in McTavishes where a catered buffet will be provided and cast gifts will be distributed.

 

 

WE NEED YOU!!!  Please promote the musical to all of your family and friends!  The students deserve a full house every night!
