Campbell Collegiate

Campbell Collegiate offers a full range of classes in Home Ec. for students at all levels from Grade 9 through Grade 12.

GRADE 9

All Grade 9 students are enrolled in class that has a three rotation including 30 days in Home Ec; 30 days in Health; and 30 days in Industrial Arts.  In the Home Ec rotation students will make a hoodie (22 days), cook 3 times, and complete a Lifeskills Project to get ready for "Life After Living at Home." 

An elective in Grade 9 is a second class in Home Ec/Industrial Arts (45 hours in each).  In the Home Ec portion, students spend 25 hours in the Foods Lab preparing recipes such as Chocolate Chip Cookies, Apple Cinnamon Muffins, Cinnamon Biscuits, Pasta Paremsan, Apple Crisp and Ice Cream, Omelets and Orange Julius, Taco Salad, and Pizza.  In 10 -15 days we make a pair of pyjamas and in the remaining 5 - 10 hours we learn to make some financial decisions about credit, credit cards, debit cards, cell phone plans and automobile insurance contracts.

GRADE 10

Students may take a full semster class to get a PAA credit in Grade 10. There is no pre-requisite for this class. Students spend 1/2 the semester in Foods and 1/2 the semeser in clothing. Projects include a quilted pillow, PJ's and a hoodie/jacket with a zipper. In foods students spend 2 days a week learning more advanced baking and cooking techniques. A small housing project rounds out the course.

GRADES 11 AND 12

Students at this level may take up to 3 credits at the 30 level. There are no pre-requisites for any of these classes. You may take any or all of these courses during your Grade 11 and Grade 12 years.  See the course outlines for more details or talk to any of the Home Ec. teachers!

Foods 30 - A nutrition/cooking course.

Clothing 30 - A sewing class.

Foods/Clothing 30 - A survey course that combines foods and clothing with a small amount housing to get you ready for the eventual move on your own!
