Campbell Collegiate offers French Immersion programming from Grade 9 to 12. The French Immersion Program is designed to provide students with opportunities to gain high proficiency in French and, at the same time, build strong English language skills. Both the French Immersion and English programs follow the same expectations as outlined by the Ministry of Education in the K-12 curricula. The only real difference between the two programs is the language of instruction. In the French Immersion program, French is the language of instruction for a significant part of the school day, in several or all subjects, with the exception of English Language Arts. Teachers encourage their students to speak French whenever possible.
In Grades 10-12, students take a minimum of 12 courses in French and the remaining courses in English. High school diplomas are granted when students have earned 24 credits. French Immersion students who earn 12 credits for courses taken in French receive a “Mention bilingue” on their graduation diploma.
